Playing Card Workout

Dearest Readers,

It is that time again where I write my blog and post it for all the world to read, or ignore. Today I am going to write to you about exercise. More specifically, I am going to talk about a neat way that you can take an exercise program with you, and a form of entertainment.

Enter the standard deck of playing cards:

Nearly every household in the United States, and most homes on the planet now possess at least one deck of standard playing cards. These little wax coated pieces of paper provide us with hours upon hours of entertainment with our friends/family/and even when we are alone. Poker, Blackjack, and Rummy are but a few of the games that this simple little pile of paper can do. Even at times we may become board and tired of playing these games, we can always throw them into a hat. We can use do tricks with them, we can use them to try to hurt each other, and finally, we can build with them!

So now I think about the idea of using them as a way to randomize exercises, and certainly I’m not the first to think about it!

Think about your standard deck of playing cards for a minute:

You have 52 cards divided into 4 suits. You have usually 2 or 4 Joker cards mixed in that deck. You shuffle them and get a random order.

So you have Hearts, Diamond, Spades, and Clubs.

You also have Jacks, Queens, Kings, and Aces.

So all you now have to do is assign them a specific exercise and draw the card.

So for my example:

Hearts are Sit ups (2-9)

Diamonds are Push ups (2-9)

Clubs are Burpees (2-9)

Spades are Pull ups (2-9)

Kings are Mountain Climbers(10)

Queens are Frog Kicks (10)

Jacks are Jumping Jacks (10)

Aces are Leg Lifts (10)

Jokers are wild, but 25 of something.

Give it a try, I’m sure you’ll love it! :)
