Harvesting the Garden

leave a comment »

This is that time where I write a short reminder to all of you, to grow a garden and reap the rewards of your efforts.

Right now I am looking at a lovely amount of blackberries, picked ripe and ready within a few feet of my backdoor. Why? Because I had the foresight to plant them about two years ago, to care for them and prune them. Now I gather them up to eat with whipped cream.

Even Bella has shown curiosity at the fruity goodies!

So go out, grow something if you have a yard. If you don’t, then plant a window box or garden on top of your fridge. Maybe a small mushroom box in a closet if you like fungi. In any event think about those Victory Gardens of WW1 and WW2. Be more industrious and hard working. As an American we eat very little fresh fruits and veggies. Those fruits and vegetables usually travel across the country or world so that the time you get to eat them, they are largely devoid of nutrients and sub par.

Get yourself a green thumb and have fun doing it!!
