Things Paleo Taught Me

leave a comment »

This blog is a recognition of the wonderful life inspiring and changing conditions that living a Paleo lifestyle promotes. Ever since I started this journey I have learned so much about the human body, our amazing ability to adapt to our world environments and the technologies that we created to survive. It goes without saying that our early hunter-gatherer lifestyle may be the basis for all of our habits and cultural norms. Millions of years of evolution created a human race built with the genetic know how to survive and thrive here on earth.

This is just a simple list of some things I learned about the human body and our origins.

Love and Everything After

So Valentine’s Day has come and gone. Despite numerous requests for intimacy from several particular females I was still, only drawn to love one of them. So I sent this particular woman a lovely set of roses, along with a note declaring my love for her and my forgiveness of past transgressions. Which I find amusing because I was raised Catholic but really do not practice Catholicism. My family and friends do follow the Christian faith but are less forgiving than I. So much for turning the other cheek. Though I digress, it seems that for the past few weeks communications between her and I have been on the rise and becoming more positive. Perchance absence does make her heart grow fonder?  I’ll keep things open minded for now, knowing that really I always love her and desire her. For better or worse she is my muse, my romantic well-spring of inspiration and enchantment. If I am a poet, she is certainly the furor poeticus within my very soul.

The decline of the written word

Antiphony

The world as we know it constantly changes and that is how it always has been. The rate of change; however, is never constant. Nor does the direction of change remain the same. In some respects we live in a world that might become increasingly complex, temporarily stagnant, or devolving into a naturally ordered chaos. As we live and grow in each one of these types of environments, our minds, outlooks, writings and forecasts are modified to coincide with the natural state of things around us. It would only make logical sense that in a world decaying and falling apart, that our minds tend toward depression, escapism, and the end of times. We are not brilliant creatures, merely ones that mimic and repeat things we see around us in a fashion that appears brilliant. It is because of these cycles that we have our cynics, optimists, realists, pessimists, true believers, heretics, and opportunists. Inevitably only some of these groups survive the epoch that they were born into and usually at the expense of the others. They raise the next generation, whose worldview is influenced not just from their environment, but also on their elder’s patronage and largesse.

It is for that reason, that history may not repeat but it will certainly rhyme as quipped by Mark Twain.
