So I write this blog to recap the event of the last week, as a means of preserving my writings for posterity, and to entertain you my dearest readers. This week has been an eventful series of not so unfortunate events, the likes of which I shall impart to you in just a few moments.  Before I begin I’d like to remind people that this is the end of the first month of a new year, and most people by now have given up on their resolutions (US Americans that is, I am not so sure about international resolutions).

If you are one of those who made resolutions this year, this is your reminder to get back to work and complete what you set out to accomplish!

Doings, a quick update

So far life has been progressing normally. My sister still has not given birth and word is that if she does not give birth this week, that the doctor will induce the pregnancy with some type of chemical. So before any of you ask me if I am going to be a godfather the answer is no. My sister discussed it with her husband and they want to have their godparents as practicing Catholics. Which makes sense when the whole job is the take responsibility of the younglings and ensure that they receive a good catholic upbringing. Myself.. I am not a Catholic though I was raised one. I follow my own private faith and apparently that is too much for a non Catholic to take or accept. Interesting right? I mean there is always the honor code of making a promise (becoming Godfather) and keeping it (raising the kids to the best wishes of their parents regardless of personal preference).

I guess the world no longer takes people at their word, nor holds the idea of an oath seriously.

So far so good with the resolutions that I’ve made for this year. Before I get into some of the actions that I have taken toward completing my goals, let me share with you some other news from this way:

My twin sister is damn near ready to burst. I imagine she only has another few weeks at most before she pops out her twins. Yes, if you haven’t known by now, she is having twin girls and she being a twin (with me), makes this a neat idea. My money was on her giving birth yesterday (cause it would fit as Friday the 13th, just like our birthday) but no dice. Oh well, at long as the offspring are happy, healthy and well mannered it matters not.

My cat midnight has taken to sleeping closer and closer to me this winter. I am not sure if it is the cold weather or if he is just getting used to the idea of sleeping in a group, but I think it is cute. He has started to sleep at my side, with his body literally hugging mine for warmth. Many a night has found me awake, staring at him snuggling on my arm and ZZZZZZ’ing away in a half purr, half snore. The old adage: “You don’t pick your pets, they pick you.” has never been truer.

2012 Resolutions

leave a comment »

With the New Year well underway and the post holiday tranquility setting in I have decided that now would be a great time to use my blog as a way to record my yearly resolution list. I realize that resolutions are  made by many people including myself  and frequently get broken (it seems like a universal tradition among celebrators), but without the resolution you are much more likely to never meet or even realize you have a goal. With that in mind, I have chosen a different path from 2011, which had a resolution of living in the moment and minimizing the complexity of my life and activities. This year will be much different as I have written down a list of concrete goals with the means to measure their success or failure. As we all know, many people set goals that are a little too lofty or ambitious and end up falling short. I am no different with the one exception in belief: “ Even if you set a high goal and fall short, you’d be amazed at how much you accomplished”.
