Happy Birthday!

leave a comment »

A happy birthday shout out to my older sister Colombia for celebrating her birthday today.

For her privacy and humility I will not tell any of you how old she is but I will tell you she told me: “ I am not looking forward to my birthday, half my life is officially over.”

Granted she was a little extreme with that statement but I can feel her pain when I get to that age, but I personally plan on living to the ripe old age of 150!

Ice Cream Cake shall be had by all!!!

It flew by quicker than I imagined

No, not a UFO but the month of September.

I blinked sometime at the end of August and now I am looking at October coming at us faster than the speed of sound! Halloween crap is on peoples lawns for the last week, the weather is really cool and damp (excellent camping fire temperature) and the month is ending as quickly as it started.

Was there anything exciting to mention? No.

I would say this month ranks as my pick for the most pointless transition month on the calendar. We could have a nicer longer October  and August (longer official ‘summer season’ and a longer Fall season) by removing the month and allocating the days to her neighbors.

Oh well, at least next month I can look forward to the low self esteem teenage whores and their almost thirty year old whore mothers dressed in ‘slut’ or ‘sexy’ costumes. Why be a doctor or devil when you can whore it up and be a sexy doctor or naughty devil.

Nothing says tricks or treats better than a teenage girl walking around with camel toe and her shirt hiked so high as to see her rear end in leggings.

WTF Rain!!!

leave a comment »

An extremely short post where I ponder the mysteries of the world around us.

Is it just me or has the Northeast US received more rainfall than normal resulting in more mosquitos and a semi tropical humid climate when there is warm weather?

I am not looking forward to winter this year, all this extra wet weather will correspond to a very cold, wet, snowy and brutal Christmas season!

Stage 1 Hypertension

leave a comment »

A nice batch of good news to brighten my morning. Despite dropping fifteen pounds since my relationship ended (which of course rocks.. the weight loss, not the loss of a relationship), I have now concluded that I am at an average blood pressure that enters into the state 1 hypertension zone. Huzzah (sarcasm meter going off)! Seriously I have to only look at my diet to understand why this has occurred. I have been eating less than before and my stress level is much lower, but I have been eating more of the S.A.D. then I ought to. S.A.D. is the short term for the Standard American Diet. In a nutshell, the diet is composed mainly of high salt, processed, low fiber, high carbs and high fat mixture. So what you’d eat basically lacks vegetal matter and sends your sodium through the roof while putting you into a sugar coma that satiates by having a pile of unnatural fats (cooking oil). The result is that even though I am watching my caloric intake and avoiding overeating, the stuff that I am overeating is placing me at a higher risk for heart issues.

The only thing now that I can do is to remove the worst of the culprits and simply do without. Yes I will be much hungrier and yes I will be going into heavier withdrawal symptoms (food can drug us as bad as any individual chemical), but that is the price I must pay to keep my life and my health with me. I have no desire to be the predicted result of America’s poor nutritional planning by dying at an earlier age than my parents!

Check your blood pressure, watch what you eat even if you are losing weight, you’d be surprised at how bad most food choices are today!

On the rocks..

I sit here this Friday thinking about the things that I enjoy in my life and the high level of quality that I aspire to bring to everything that I want to do. Granted I may never reach that level of quality that I desire, but I aspire to experience this level of quality at least once or twice in my short little life (as we all have a very limited timeline). So it is with the times we have that are shared with many a good friend or acquaintance: a few cubes of ice, a little distilled spirits, and maybe a cigar or pipe to puff on while the night is young.

Humidity

It pains me to realize that most of Philadelphia was built upon small streams and rivers that were covered over with dirt and Ash. Basically we are living in a large low lying woodland area that has been covered with bricks, concrete and asphalt. It is no wonder that the city is usually humid year round: that is what happens when the streams that helped move the moisture away are removed and the soil becomes perpetually saturated. Nearly year round and in most places around town I can talk a walk and smell the mold, the fungi breaking free from their normal Malthusian limits and growing beyond their natural environmental limits because of our own stupidity.
