Flag Day… erm… Army Day

Today I’d like to point out that although many people celebrate today as Flag day (and wave that banner proudly) that today is in fact the founding of the U.S. Army. June 14th, 1775 was when the Continental Congress authorized enlistment for service towards the revolution. Most people aren’t aware of this tidbit of history and instead focus on the 1777 date of flag day, which wouldn’t exist if the Army hadn’t fought the revolution.

So wave that banner proudly and if you’re a peace loving pacifist moron who doesn’t understand that a failure to defend your culture with arms means that your culture will disappear (see every culture that lost major wars), realize that you are celebrating the military and not the flag. Sure we celebrate today as flag day, but realize just how many days we have as Americans in celebration of our armed forces.

We are a militaristic republic and we have been for 236 years.
