Behold it in the sky!

4dee951b9411d.image Man o Man I am stoked about the idea of a zepplin flying overhead, especially in the Philadelphia region. Apparently the insurance company Farmers has one, called “Eureka” and it is on tour nationwide. This week coming, they will be doing tours overhead for about $400 a ride (almost an hour flight). This has been one of my dreams and ambitions: to fly in an airship. Whenever they were in the NE Philadelphia Airport I used to stop by on my way home from school (even to the point of having to walk home from a wasted token) just for the chance to see the insides of them. I got to meet several of the pilots of the Goodyear team who, sadly, told me that a flight is only available as a courtesy to investors or sports franchise owners or even advertisers.

Irony has reared its’ head once more in my direction and smiled at me. Oh well, I shall try another time and place and be ready with $500 in hand just in case this becomes available again! If any of you have the chance to take a flight, I highly recommend it ( I’ve been inside them and they are amazing to sit in, even more amazing when you go up as very little noise is made).

For those of you who are in a generous mood and want to help me fulfill my dream of getting on one of these things before they move on to better cities, tickets can be acquired below.

One minute self portrait

leave a comment »

Today I wanted to do something artsy, so I decided to run a quick self portrait. I gave myself one minute when I woke up to draw as fast as I could what my face looked like. Naturally there are several flaws with the drawing ( I have much smaller ears and lips, my hair goes more like a triangular Mohawk then spiky in the morning). All in all I was happy to give myself this mini sketch as a test of my horrendous drawing ability. After looking at it for more then a few minutes, I think it has a surfer boy, southern California advertising appeal ( like I am selling surfboards or something beachy).

enjoy!

Friday…

leave a comment »

Well nothing much to report, I’ve been out and about doing stuff this week, mainly entertainment things with people that I know. I took some random assortment of pictures and decided to post it here. Nothing organized, nothing serious for today. It has been really really nice out (so nice I had to write really twice)! This post will inevitably include some random photos from the weekend that has yet to pass. Things that passed included: Oscar, Chaddsford Winery, an exhausted dog (after a long walk in the heat).

Have a great weekend everyone!

Karaoke

leave a comment »

So I have agreed to go tonight to sing in public. My newly found friend Abby has recommended that this time I actually sing instead of being a wall fly. You see we have been going (well not we per say, but the local theater group has been going and a few of us have been tagging along ) to karaoke at the Great American Diner and Pub in Bensalem. Since most of them sing, they naturally want other people to sing, be it for better or worse. Tonight after some careful debate I have agreed to embarrass myself by singing some lovely Johnny Cash. The song will be Folsom Prison Blues. It is short, it is simple and easy to sing. Oh and Johnny has a hat!

Below are the lyrics and a few pictures, plus a link to the song itself via Youtube:

"Folsom Prison Blues"
I hear the train a comin’
It’s rolling round the bend
And I ain’t seen the sunshine since I don’t know when,
I’m stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin’ on
But that train keeps a rollin’ on down to San Antone..
When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son,
Always be a good boy, don’t ever play with guns.
But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die
When I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry..
Soooey!
I bet there’s rich folks eating from a fancy dining car
They’re probably drinkin’ coffee and smoking big cigars.
Well I know I had it coming, I know I can’t be free
But those people keep a movin’
And that’s what tortures me…
Well if they freed me from this prison,
If that railroad train was mine
I bet I’d move it on a little farther down the line
Far from Folsom prison, that’s where I want to stay
And I’d let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away…..

A warm Wednesday

leave a comment »

Today was a fairly great day when we think about weather for Philly. Simple warm-hot day with a modest amount of humidity allowed me the pleasure of walking my Bella on two of my planned energy hikes. Since Bella is a beagle and the breed is designed to track and hunt for extended distances, I am finding it in her (and now my own) best interest to go for longer walks in the daytime. Winter is over, and I really need to not be such a porker! Using the website : Gmap Pedometer I have been able to give a good estimate of the distances she and I walked each time we went out. Since we take her for a walk every 4 hours you can get a good approximation of just how much walking is being done. Each time we go out, I usually walk with her anywhere from 1.5 – 2 miles (depending on traffic and how she does, sometimes she gives up and pulls me back to the house).

Using this method of walking her, I hope to burn my gut down to a manageable size and keep her from being a walking hot dog!

The Rapture has Come and Gone

leave a comment »

This Saturday saw the coming and going of the rapture and with it, a party in its’ honor. Naturally anyone who has the slightest chance of going to heaven, hell or purgatory should be celebrating in anticipation of its’ arrival. After all, why sit and be pious if there is a chance you will still suffer for all of eternity? Better put those last minutes of your life to good use and enjoy the end of days before the actual end of days arrives! And that is what we did, photos below show the drunken exploits of the crew! Enjoy!!
